Cold wallets and offline custody
Cold storage reduces some online exposure, but it does not eliminate malicious transaction requests, backup loss, or address mistakes.

Follow these checks in order
Understand the tradeoff
Hot wallets favor convenience while offline custody limits exposure, with different operational costs.
Separate credential types
A recovery phrase, private key, and device passcode play different roles.
Inspect what you sign
Check recipient, network, amount, and token approvals even when using offline signing.
Prepare for device loss
Keep a recoverable offline backup and periodically inspect its condition.
SECURITY BOUNDARY
Knowing when to pause is part of wallet security
If a network, permission, or phrase request differs from what you expected, stop and verify through an independent, trusted channel. Never sign just because of a timer or an urgent message.
Never enter recovery credentials into an unfamiliar page.
